Vintage Maple Dresser in Old White (SOLD)

Total sweetness.

This one is seriously so sweet, you guys.  It's simple but lovely, solid but charming.  It's feminine but sturdy (I could go on and on….).  ;-)  I really do love it.

A vintage dresser this size in Old White ALWAYS makes me think nursery, just because it's so perfectly suited to that purpose.  It's the exact height you'd need for a changing table, and it's the right depth too.  Not to mention all that awesome drawer space for sweet little baby clothes.  :-)

But… that's not the only thing this piece would be good for.  While I see it in a nursery, maybe you see it in your family room with a flatscreen on top?  Or in your foyer as an entryway piece?  Or in your little girl's bedroom?  Lots of ways this beauty could be used.  I took a few less nursery-y photos to give you another perspective on it.  :-)

This sweet piece was made by Kroehler Furniture, which is a great furniture maker that had its heyday in the 1960's.  It's solid rock maple, which means it's rock solid.  :-)  Built to stand the test of time, that's for sure.  Even the back is solid wood, a sure sign of a well-made piece. 

I've painted this dresser in Old White with a distressed finish and clear wax.  Even the original round wooden knobs got a makeover.  :-)  All 8 dovetailed drawers move in and out with ease.  This sweetie measures 48'' long x 34 1/2'' tall x 19 1/2'' deep and is priced at $440 (SOLD).

Mid-century tables in Graphite (SOLD)

Finally - after 2 solid months of transition that involved: moving out of our home in Greenville, way too many weeks in a hotel as we waited to close on our new home, boomerang trips between Greenville and Atlanta, a whirlwind move in process with a little construction work thrown in, and wading through a massive sea of cardboard…. I am FINALLY BACK TO PAINTING!!  Hallelujah.  I am so over boxes and packing paper and box cutters and transition in general.  We're settling into our new home and it feels so. good. to be back.  :-)

Speaking of being back - I am thrilled for these midcentury side tables to be my first pieces back here in Atlanta!  I am sort of in love with them.  I knew they'd be great when I bought them months ago - I liked them so much that I bought them and MOVED them with us to Atlanta - but I have to say that the end result is even better than I'd hoped for.  These tables are SOLID, guys.  So solidly built and sturdy and just AWESOME.  I adore the streamlined silhouette and how it works so well with the dark, bold color.  If ever a piece was meant to be painted in Graphite - this is it.  Or THESE are it, I suppose.  :-)

These tables are wooden all the way, and are vintage midcentury pieces by Century Furniture.  I'm always happy to see that label inside a mid-century piece, because it tells me that they are great quality and have (and will continue!) to stand the test of time.

I love the storage these tables provide.  The drawer at the bottom is great, and the doors open to a lot of interior space.  Enough room for pretty much anything you could need to store next to your sofa or bed.

Which brings me to my next point - these would be equally great in a living room or bedroom.  They would be gorgeous end tables in a family room, or make a statement as bedside tables.  They're going to get compliments wherever you decide to put them.

These tables have been painted in Annie Sloan's Graphite paint, distressed lightly, and coated with clear wax for protection and a matte sheen.  The hardware is lovely and original to the piece.  The tables measure 24'' tall x 23'' wide x 16'' deep and are priced at $320 for the pair (SOLD).

Update to yesterday's post

Hi all - I wanted to let you know that I reached out to the owner of the other blog, and she has now removed her blog and removed the photographs of my pieces from her Facebook page.  Thank you for your support and encouragement - yesterday was not an easy day for me.  As you can see, I've changed the cover on my blog to reflect my business name - because she is now using the name Shabby to Chic, I want to be sure I have a distinct and memorable name of my own.  So - Atlanta Shabby Chic is my new official business name, and I will no longer be using the name "Shabby to Chic" on my blog.  I'm excited to move forward from this point and get back to painting furniture in Atlanta.

Again, thanks so much for your support.  I really do have the best clients out there!

 On that note - here's to years of great furniture to come!  :-)

Atlanta, here I come! (again)

Hi folks!  I know I've been absent for the past couple of months here - I've been posting more on my Facebook page and have also been working through yet another move for our family.  I am both happy and sad to say that we are moving yet again…. sad to leave sweet Greenville behind, but happy to say that we're moving back to Atlanta!  It's been a fast but lovely year here in South Carolina, and I'm very grateful to all of my new customers here.  Thank you for welcoming me with open arms.  I'm also quite excited to return to my client base in Atlanta, and I'm hopeful that I can pick up right where we left off.  :-)  I'm still painting here in Greenville for the next month or so, and starting in June I'll be back to work in Atlanta.  We just found our new home there over the weekend, and I'm thrilled with my new painting space.

My blog name will be changing in the next couple of weeks from www.greenvilleshabbychic.blogspot.com back to www.atlantashabbychic.blogspot.com.  I'll give you more warning when that change is about to happen so you can update your feeds.

Happy New Year from Shabby to Chic!

Happy 2015, everyone!  Isn't it crazy to type out that new number?  :-)   Seems like just yesterday we were all wondering what calamities would occur as we hit the new millennium.  Time sure is a funny thing!

I've got great plans for this site and my business this year.  My goal is to continue to grow my client base here in my new town of Greenville, SC while still keeping my loyal Atlanta clients reading and enjoying my site.  :-)  I've found over the past few months that custom projects have prevented me from posting here very often, but my goal for this year is to post at least one new (and available to the public!) piece every two weeks.  So please keep checking back for updates - I'm so excited to have you here!
