Gorgeous Antique Chest (SOLD)

This piece is really something special, folks.  :-)  I fell in love with it the moment I saw it on craigslist, and knew that with a little chalk paint and love it would be SPECTACULAR.  Everything about this chest is wonderful - it's a true antique made of solid mahogany and has a gorgeous solid wood back (so hard to find that these days!).  Beautiful hardware, gorgeous lines, lovely detailing, large dovetailed drawers that work perfectly... it's a dream of a chest. Not a single flaw. I've painted it with two coats of Old White paint, distressed it, and coated it with clear wax.  This is one that I'm a bit sad to see leave my garage... if only I had another bedroom in my house to put it in!  Hopefully it will find a home in a nursery ... or guest room ... or little girl's room... or master bedroom ...and be well loved.  This piece measures 47'' tall x 34'' wide x 20'' deep and is priced at $370.

Dresser/Buffet, End Table, and Lamps (ALL NOW SOLD)

I have a ton of new pieces in the works - my garage is completely FULL of furniture!  :-)  So be looking for lots of posts in the next couple of weeks. But for today - I have a lovely dresser/buffet and end table for sale, along with a pair of gorgeous shabby chic lamps.

First - the dresser/buffet (SOLD).  This was a lovely craigslist find - solid wood, dovetailed joints on all six drawers, quite old (love vintage pieces!), very solid. All of the drawers work perfectly, and it has the original vintage hardware. I love the lines along the bottom - adds so much character. I've painted it Old White and distressed it, and given it a coat of clear wax for protection.  Definitely a piece that would be perfect for a nursery or child's bedroom - and would be equally beautiful in a guest room, living space for extra storage, dining room as a buffet - lots of options.  This piece measures 32'' tall x 46'' long x 18'' deep, and is priced at $230.

Next - a lovely solid wood end table/nightstand (SOLD).  This is the little brother to the dresser above - I think it's such a great size. Large enough to provide great storage in the three dovetailed drawers. Same lovely lines along the bottom. Same vintage hardware. This could be used as a nightstand, as an end table in a living space, or as an occasional table anywhere you need a little storage. Measures 26'' tall x 19'' wide x 15'' deep. Priced at $70.

And last on the list for today - a pair of matching candlestick lamps w/ shades (SOLD).  I've painted them a gorgeous pale pink (Antoinette Pink by Annie Sloan) and distressed them. Cream bell shaped shades finish the look. They have a lovely french feel to them - and would be great on either side of a dresser in a bedroom (perfect for a nursery or little girl's room!).  Really a sweet pair of lamps.  Priced at $25 for the set.

If you're interested in purchasing any of the pieces in this post, please email me by clicking on the "Contact Me" tab above - thanks so much!  Coming up in the next few weeks - a lovely highboy chest in a fun color, two antique mahogany pieces, a lovely old vanity... and maybe a few other pieces as well.  I told you - my garage is literally bursting at the seams. :-)

Bedroom Makeover - Before and After

I wanted to share what's been going on at our house this week!  My youngest daughter was ready to move out of her crib, so we decided to move our girls in together. Several days of painting and rearranging later, the room is finished!

This was our older daughter's room before:
And our girls' shared bedroom after!
The process:
First, we searched for matching twin beds that I could paint.  Found these lovely Ethan Allen beds on craigslist:
I painted them Old White and gave them a coat of wax, and they looked completely different.  I love the pale creamy white on these beds - I think it really fits the curved lines.

Next, I searched for old gold frames at our local Goodwill and garage sales, and was able to find quite a large selection.
Also found this cute mirror at Goodwill:
I painted the frames Old White, distressed them, and waxed them, and did the same thing to the mirror - only in Antoinette Pink.
We moved my youngest daughter's dresser into the room (painted Old White and distressed with pink crystal knobs) and added matching distressed lamps. I also painted the mirror over the dresser in Antoinette Pink and framed it with a huge empty frame (painted Old White and distressed).
We needed more storage than one dresser could provide, so I moved my older daughter's chest into the open closet. Distressed shutters and a fabric covered canvas complete the cozy little closet.
I was super excited to find a vintage chandelier at an antique shop in town - every shabby chic little girl's room needs a chandelier. :-)
Last but not least, I wanted to add some color over the beds - so I bought blank canvases at our local craft store and fabric to cover them.

And the finished product!
The girls are thrilled, and I'm pretty happy with it too. :-)  If you are redecorating a room in your home and would like me to custom paint your furniture, please click on the "Contact Me" tab above - thanks! I also have a cream dresser available that would work beautifully in a room like this one - look down a few posts to find it. :-)

Custom Bow-front Chest

I just had to share a before and after of this lovely bow front chest, which was a custom piece for a client who wanted a pop of color in her daughter's bedroom.

Before:
This chest belonged to her great-grandparents, so it was something she wanted to keep even though she wasn't thrilled with the color of the wood. We choose the color "Provence", which is a lovely blue/green. Don't you love the finished product?

Lovely Cream Dresser (SOLD)

Sometimes you can find the neatest pieces in other people's basements. :-)  This sweet dresser was in the basement of an older couple, and it had been sitting there unused for years. A few coats of Old White, some distressing, and a coat of clear wax later, and this piece is perfect for any nursery or child's bedroom.... or guest bedroom... or kitchen - or anywhere you need a little storage space. Original hardware. Solid wood. Six dovetailed drawers. Gorgeous and ready to be loved again. :-)  Measures 32'' tall x 48'' long x 17'' deep.  Priced at $225.

Gorgeous French Mirror (SOLD)

Don't you love it when you happen upon a truly wonderful garage sale? I do.  Such a thrill to walk down (or up) someone's driveway and see lots of diamonds in the rough, just waiting for someone to love them again. This mirror wasn't very rough, but it's definitely a diamond. I fell in love right there on the driveway.
Gorgeous french lines, beautiful elongated arch shape, fabulous shelf along the bottom, great details - what's not to love? Painted a beautiful cream and waxed with both clear and dark wax for a durable finish (and to show off the lovely detailing). Solid wood, very heavy, and already wired for hanging. Measures 29'' wide x 50'' tall from the top of the arch. Shelf is 8'' deep.
Priced at $135. If you like the looks of this one you should probably act fast, as I have a feeling it will be a quick seller! That is, if I don't find a place for it in my own house first....  ;-)
