Turquoise Chest On Chest (SOLD)

I am always a happy camper when I come across a piece that has a ton of character.... and this one definitely fits the bill.  It's a great mix between antique and modern and I absolutely love the lines of it. This older beauty is made of solid maple and is super sturdy, and its 5 drawers are all dovetailed and work beautifully (the bottom two are very deep). The pulls are fabulous! I've painted it a lovely shade of turquoise (Provence by Annie Sloan) and given it a distressed finish, with clear wax on top for protection.  This lovely piece would be perfect for a nursery or little boy's bedroom.... but is also cool and "retro" enough to add character in any room where you'd like to have more storage space. It measures 49'' tall x 33'' long x 19'' deep  and is priced at $325 (SOLD).

Gorgeous Antique Buffet/Sideboard (SOLD)

There she is, folks. :-)  Let's all take a minute and thank the good Lord for craigslist. 

Seriously.  I am so thankful for craigslist!  Especially when a piece like this one comes along.  There have been so many great pieces that I have JUST missed over the past couple of years ... I was the second to call about it, or the third, or the ninth. Last Saturday night I was lucky enough to be on craigslist searching right as this one popped up.... and I called immediately.  I will confess I danced a little jig when the owner called me back and said I could come get it the next afternoon. :-)

It was definitely interesting getting it home.... my sweet mom (who is here visiting) was nice enough to come with me and help get it in the minivan. It was a bit longer than I was expecting, so we drove the entire way back to my house with the back of the van open and the car BEEP BEEP BEEPing at us really loudly.... just to make sure we knew.  We tied a rope around the piece and my mom held on to it for dear life.  We were quite a sight on the road, I bet.  :-)   All totally worth it though - I am thrilled to have this one completed and ready to find a new home.

Although this piece could certainly be used as a dresser, I think its true calling is as a buffet or sideboard in a dining room.  It's just so majestic and gorgeous - it would be a great focal piece in a dining area. Gorgeous french provincial lines, beautiful curved front drawers, lovely detailing on the sides and across the bottom.  Everything about this piece says quality.

The details:  It's made of solid wood (I believe it's cherry) and has 9 drawers in all. They are all dovetailed and rock solid - they move in and out perfectly as well.  The piece was manufactured by White Fine Furniture many many years ago, and still has the maker's stamp inside the top drawer. I've painted it a lovely shade of deep cream, distressed it and given it two coats of clear wax for durability. It measures 79'' long x 33'' tall x 24'' deep, and is priced at $495 (SOLD).  I did the best I could taking photos - this piece is just long enough to make it hard for me to get a great picture in my narrow foyer (otherwise known as my photography studio).  I couldn't get back far enough!  So - check out the photographs, but also feel free to contact me for more photos or to come see it in person.  It's even more gorgeous in person. :-)

Vintage Blue Chest (SOLD)

The past couple of weeks have been SO busy over our way!  I've been working on several custom pieces and loving every minute of it - but I'm happy to have one that's available to all of you finished and ready to go! I'll put together a post in the next few days showing the custom pieces I've been working on - but in the meantime - enjoy this vintage treasure!

It's absolutely my favorite kind of piece .... versatile, versatile, and.... did I say it's versatile? :-)  It's got 3 dovetailed drawers (bottom two are quite deep), it's made of solid wood, and it's got great lines. But let's talk a bit more about how versatile it is ...  :-)   It would be great as a tv stand in a family room.  Perfect height for a changing table in a nursery. Great as a dresser in a child's bedroom. Lovely in a foyer, kitchen, dining room.... great for extra storage pretty much anywhere.  Could even be used to hold towels in a bathroom.  Have I proven its versatility? :-)  I've painted it Duck Egg Blue and distressed it, and given it a coat of wax for protection. It measures 33'' tall x 38'' long x 18 1/2'' deep, and is priced at $190 (now sold).

Lovely Yellow Chest (SOLD), Turquoise Chest (SOLD)

I have two new pieces! Both in a fun color - don't you love adding a splash of color to your house in the summertime? I do. Turquoise and yellow are two of my favorite accent colors .... both so bright and happy.
This first piece is an antique mahogany chest - made of SOLID mahogany (SOLD).  Here's the very old sticker inside the top drawer to prove it:

All of the 5 drawers are dovetailed and work beautifully - the top two have dividers inside. Tons of storage space in this old beauty. I love that it's a tall piece, but still up on legs. I've painted it Arles, which is a fabulous buttery yellow, and given it a distressed finish and a coat of clear wax for protection. It has all of the original hardware. Really a great piece of furniture! Would be an easy way to add a little color in a master bedroom, guest room, office, child's room..... anywhere you want a little sunshine. :-)  Measures 48'' tall x 34'' wide x 20'' deep, and priced at $330. A total steal for a solid mahogany piece!

 

Also available - a lovely turquoise chest (SOLD).  This is a mid-century piece with great lines and a bold color. :-)  It's made of solid maple and is super sturdy, and has 3 large dovetailed drawers. I love the original hardware on this one! Very retro and cool. I think this piece could serve so many purposes... it'd be a great entryway piece, it's the perfect height to be used as a tv stand or as a changing table, great as a dresser in a bedroom. I've painted it "Provence" - one of my all-time favorite chalk paint colors - and distressed it. Clear wax gives it a durable finish and a bit of a glow. Measurements are 34'' tall x 42'' wide x 19'' deep, and this piece is priced at $240.
