Featured piece - Antique chest (SOLD)

And now for something a little different...  :-)

Some dear friends of ours are in the middle of adopting a precious little girl with special needs from China, and this antique chest is being auctioned off to help raise money for their cause. So - to all of my followers out there... bid, bid, bid!!!  :-)

The details:
This is an antique chest made of solid cherry, with four dovetailed drawers that work beautifully. Each drawer has the original antique hardware, and there's a hidden pull-out shelf at the top of the piece - perfect for extra display space or as a writing area. This chest would be lovely as a smaller buffet in a dining room, as a desk in a child's bedroom, as a foyer piece, or as an end table with storage. It's been painted Duck Egg Blue and given a distressed finish, with clear wax for durability.  Measurements are 30'' long x 31'' tall x 16'' deep.  Starting bid is $75.

This is definitely a win-win situation - you get a lovely handpainted antique chest for a great price, and a sweet little girl gets a little closer to coming home to be with her family.  You can find the family's website here, and you can find the online auction here.
To place a bid, click on the picture of the chest in the auction photo album, and put your bid in the comment section under the picture. The silent auction ends July 26th at 9pm.

So, come on folks - head on over to the auction and bid! :-)

(If you have trouble locating the silent auction and are interested in bidding, you can contact me directly by clicking on the "Contact Me" tab above.)

** UPDATE: This piece sold at the silent auction for $250.  Thanks to everyone who bid on this chest!

    1. Hi Lindsay! Thanks so much for your interest! I just spoke with the owner of the auction page - she is going to be posting the photos of the chest on the auction site tonight, and you'll be able to bid on it then. I was excited about the chest and got a little ahead of her. :-) So check back on the auction site first thing in the morning, and you'll be able to place your bid. Thanks again Lindsay! I know they appreciate it so much.
